I have been putting a lot of thought into my collar construction lately. I have extended the range down to 1/2″ – and I have finally found somewhere I can get a constant supply of the shapes I want in all the sizes I want – I will do you a quick video tour of the hardware now that I am almost fully organized.
I can now make martingale collars in 1/2″ – 3/4″ – 1″ – 1 1/2″ – 2″ width
standard collars in 1/2″ – 3/4″ – 1″ – 1 1/2″ width
and leads in 1/2″ – 1″ width
Since I started making the collars in the thinner widths I have started to rethink the overall construction – and I am playing with linings. The cat collars are incredibly fiddly – and I have had to come up with a more precise way of getting all the turnings even. I am still trialing the new system – but I am sure it’s much neater – and I love the idea of having a different inside to the collar.
My fabric collars are entirely handmade. The are cut – ironed – and assembled from 100% cotton fabrics. I do not just trim ready made items. that’s is what keeps my work so individual.
